Almost-live blogging — The Little Prince — Episode 5×04

Once again, blogging during commercial breaks.
9:07 — What is Sun up to? I hope that Aaron will be ok.
9:18 — Sayid is a badass even when he’s on a hospital bed, just minutes after almost dying! Glad to see that Charlotte did have a miracle recovery. Why did Kate flee from the lawyer, only to seek him out in his office? That makes no sense.
I like that this episode takes place on both the Island and the mainland.
9:27 — Oh no! Miles has the nosebleed sickness now! They better give him the miracle cure too. We need his snide remarks.
So Sawyer is seeing the past, in the jungle. Ho hum. This time-travel stuff doesn’t really excite me any more.
The Island part of this episode feels a bit heavy on the exposition, filling in the backstory about why and how Locke left the Island.
9:39 — Claire’s mother. Well, she would have a claim to the baby.
That was a good segment.
It looks like Kate borrowed Richard Alpert’s eyeliner.
The part where the Island people were in the canoe reminded me of Survivor — two groups of people in colorful, obsolete modes of water transportation, trying to outrace each other. Well, except for the shooting. They don’t do that on Survivor.
Flash. Sawyer: Thank you Lord! Downpour. Sawyer: I take that back! Hah.
Ajira Airlines — we’ve seen that before, online!
9:52 — Jin! I knew he’d show up eventually. Uh oh. Juliet’s got the nose bleed syndrome too.
Anyone surprised that Norton is Ben’s lawyer? Didn’t think so.
They need to pull out some real surprises soon.
I feel like we’re marking time a bit.
10:01 — Now THERE’s the real younger version of Danielle Rousseau.
I thought the episode was okay. An okay episode of LOST is still much better than almost everything else on TV. But I feel like we are being set-up for a later payoff, rather than getting to the heart of the story. Maybe when they all regroup, it won’t feel so disjointed, especially if they can stop time-skipping for a while.

I was really loving Sawyer in this episode. I’m not sure what it was, other than the fact that he’s burningly hot…lol…I just was happy to see him everytime he came on screen. Maybe it’s because oddly enough, he’s been one of the characters we can actually count on. It’s weird when the con man’s motives are more easy to identify than the people who are supposed to be more straightforward.
This did kind of seem like marching along with just little bits of added info, but I think this is the lull to help keep our heads from exploding every week. It gives us time to digest what’s happened before…heh.
I figured Ben was probably pulling the strings against Kate in order to get her in a position to flee. The dude is a master manipulator–I think the surprise in an episode now would be if he *didn’t* have anything to do with a disaster or bad news of some sort…heh.
I think Sawyer’s become the emotional center of the group that is still on the Island. Locke wants to bring the Oceanic 6 back because destiny is calling him to do that, or whatever, and he wants to be a great leader, but Sawyer wants them to come back because he misses them. I don’t think that anyone else on the Island really does.
Well, Jin will, once he’s fully awake, but he seems to be off in his own private time zone for the moment, so who knows when or if he will meet up with the rest of the group.
You could be right about Ben wanting Kate to flee. I think there’s got to be something sneakier going on with the lawyer than we’ve been shown so far. It also doesn’t make much sense that Ben would try to snatch Aaron from Kate, because he needs both Aaron *and* Kate to go back to the Island — or at least so we’ve been led to believe.
Okay, just finished watching it. Call me a sap if you like - but that whole scene with Sawyer watching Kate help Claire give birth - it had me sniffling.
Then near the end where Sun is in the car looking at the gun on the seat - I couldn’t get the video you’d posted above out of my head - and just burst out laughing. Gun out of a chocolate box! Heh!
The scene was too dark when they first pulled Jin out of the water, so I wasn’t sure who it was. It sure is a good thing that Jin learned English! I wonder if there were any other survivors from the freighter?
Overall, it was an okay episode. I hope that next week has a bit more oomph to it.
I don’t think you’re a sap. I think I’m becoming hard-hearted.
I never used to be able to let a moment of Sawyer-Kate love go by without feeling a tug on my heartstrings.
I think partly I was getting vertigo from the time travel, and partly I was distracted by seeing Claire, who I used to think had died in the jungle, but then learned from the recap show that she apparently had not.
So instead of thinking, “Awww. Look how much Sawyer misses Kate,” I was thinking “Oh, look, there’s Claire again. Is she dead? Undead? The past manifestation of someone who was once undead but now is un-undead?”
I didn’t think there could be other survivors of the freighter, but now that you mention it, if Jin survived, then others certainly might have as well. Wasn’t he the closest to the dynamite?
Putting a gun in a chocolate box is a waste of a whole layer of chocolates.
Here’s hoping that next week is oomph-ier!
