Some thoughts on seeing “LaFleur” again

I needed my LOST fix tonight, so I watched the rerun of “LaFleur.”

I don’t usually watch the “enhanced” shows with the pop-up hints, and I was struck tonight by how much detailed cross-referencing they were doing, in the hints, to earlier episodes. If ABC keeps this up, it could put us LOST bloggers out of business! Ha!

My favorite moments this time were two “Suliet” moments. The first was the way that Sawyer looked at Juliet after she said that Amy and the baby were both okay. The second was the way that Juliet looked at Sawyer, when they were sitting on the dock, when he talked her into staying.

Those two quiet moments, even more than the climactic hugging-and-kissing-in-the-kitchen scene, conveyed such a strong sense of the love between the two. And it’s striking, as I mentioned earlier, that this was the first time we’ve seen either of these characters appear truly happy in all the time we’ve known them.

Watching the episode again, though, made me feel a little closer to feeling satisfied with the amount of time I’ve had with the story of Suliet — so that when Kate appeared at the end, this time I wasn’t thinking “Oh, no!” as I had the first time I watched the episode. I wasn’t dreading the break-up of Sawyer and Juliet the way I had been before.

I guess I just needed to spend one more hour enjoying the loveliness of Suliet, and now I can deal with moving on. ;)

Watching it again also left me with one more unanswered question: Why did the Others attack Paul and Amy in the first place? They had a truce, which apparently everyone was taking very seriously. So why the attack?
